Gianna Englert is an Assistant Professor in the Political Science Department at Southern Methodist University. She holds an M.A. in Liberal Arts from St. John’s College, Annapolis and a Ph.D. in Government from Georgetown University, and was a Postdoctoral Research Associate at the Political Theory Project at Brown University. She has research interests in political theory, the history of political thought, political inclusion and exclusion, citizenship, political economy, and the history of liberalism. Her current work focuses on the concept of “political capacity” for citizenship in the French liberal tradition. Her work has been published in Polity and The Review of Politics and is forthcoming in Modern Intellectual History.
