Notre-Dame-des-Landes, c’est fini

17 January 2018

It’s over, after only half a century. The government has decided that the airport planned for Notre-Dame-des-Landes will not be built.  Instead, the existing airports at Rennes and Nantes will be expanded. The “Defense Zone” manned by armed ecologists (sic) must be evacuated by the fall. And thus ends a textbook case in how not to govern.

Definitely did not see that coming.

This is the first thing Macron has done of with which I unreservedly agree on the merits. I’m certain it was a difficult decision and one which will irritate many of his supporters on the right. Nevertheless, it was the right thing to do and I applaud him for it.
