A great piece indeed!
I would just add that the trial against Mrs Le Pen will certainly cost her no vote. As far as I know, the only regulations she (and her party) did not observe are the internal rules of the European Parliament, for which the French in general, and nationalist sympathizers in particular, have as little respect as Mr. Trump’s supporters have for UNESCO. Actually, in case of new legislative elections, Mrs Le Pen will be free to tour in all France supporting her candidates, easily presenting herself, and them, as targeted by “le système en place”. Often a winning formula in French elections.
